First Nations Medicine Walk & Pot Luck

Survivalism Meetups > Toronto Survivalism Meetup Group Hello fellow Survivalists/Thrivalists/Preservationists! If you were injured in the woods would you know which plants you could use to instantly make a poultice for pain relief? If you felt a cold or flu coming on, would you know which herbs to boil up to help boost your immune system? Did you know that many of Southwestern Ontario's so called "weeds" are actually amazing healers? On Sunday October 19th join us as we travel to the Ancestors Voice Health Centre in Oshweken (Six Nations Reserve) to learn first hand from Gail Whitlow, a wonderful healer of Mohawk (Bear Clan) decent, about various plant "medicines" that are native to our area and how to use them for optimal health. Our day will consist of: * A free flowing discussion with Gail on First Nations' medicines * A Pot-luck lunch * A walk on sacred land for medicine plant identification * A guided meditation (either on the sacred land or at the healing centre - depending on weather) * An opportunity to purchase dried medicines back at the centre Things to bring: * Boots for muddy forest floors * Warm clothing * Note pad/pen * Food to share for pot-luck lunch * Sacred tobacco as an offering - you can purchase loose tobacco or cigarettes on the reserve for a low price. * $10 as a thank you for Gail's time * Gas money for the drivers - $5/person Car Pooling: * We'll meet at the Kipling Passenger Pick-up and head out from there * RSVP to say if you need a ride * RSVP to let us know how many passengers you can take * If you see someone needs a ride, or that a ride is being offering, please message each other to arrange it What a great way to spend a Sunday in October! Hope you can make it out! Etobicoke, ON M8V 0A1 - Canada Sunday, October 19 at 10:30 AM Attending: 20 Fee: Price: CAD 10.00 per person Details: http://survivalism.meetup.com/162/calendar/8809639/
