MLB Pewter Belt Buckle - Atlanta Braves
This pewter and enamel belt buckle is a great way to show your Atlanta Braves team spirit.
The Atlanta Braves play in the Eastern Division of the MLB out of Turner Field in Atlanta. The Atlanta Braves weren't always known as the Atlanta Braves though. The team got its start in Boston in 1871, making it the oldest of only two of the National Leagues remaining original charter franchises. In the beginning the team was known as the Boston Red Stockings then in 1876 the team was sometimes called the "Red Caps". Cincinnati formed a team called the Cincinnati Red Stockings so in 1883 the Boston Red Stockings became the Boston Beaneaters. In 1907 with a change of ownership came yet another change of name to the Doves after the Dove family which where the current owners. In 1911 the team changed hands to William Russell so the named changed also to The Rustlers. In 1935 Bob Quinn obtained the team and asked a group of sportswriters to help choose a new name in hopes of getting rid of any bad luck associated with the past names. So in 1936 the team became the "Bees" which basically everyone hated even the owner, with the uniform consisting of a big letter B on it. By 1941 though that name too was dropped and the Braves where born. They have been the Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves and since 1966 the Atlanta Braves.
No matter what the name of the team some great players have come out of this organization; Cy Young, Jackie Robinson and Hank Aaron are just to name a few. The team has also won the World Series 3 times (1914, 1957 & 1995) and has captured nine National League pennants and four National Association Pennants.
