NFL Pewter Belt Buckle - Carolina Panthers
What a way to show your Carolina team spirit then by wearing this nicely made pewter and enamel belt buckle.
The Carolina Panthers is a fairly new team in the NFL being formed in 1995 as an expansion team. The Panthers play in the NFC South Division and represent both North and South Carolina and call Charlotte, North Carolina home. The Carolina Panthers became the 29th franchise in the NFL and the first new team to join the NFL since 1976.
Dom Capers was signed as the first coach for the Carolina Panthers and was with the team until his termination in 1998 when the Panthers season ended 4-12. After the dismissal of Capers the Panthers hired George Seifert the former San Fransisco 49ers head coach (which had two Super Bowl victories with the 49ers) in hopes to turn the team around. After three seasons and no magic with the Panthers, Seifert was fired the day after the 2001 season ended. In 2001 the team hired John Fox who is still the present coach for the Panthers.
Even though the team has had three coaches they have done well for a new team, in 1996 they where first in the NFC West but lost the Conference Championships, in 2003 they where first in the NFC South and made it too Super Bowl XXXVIII which pitted them against the New England Patriots with the final score being 32-29 in the Patriots favor. In 2005 the team won the Wild Card playoffs and the divisional playoffs but lost the Conference Championship to the Seahawks.
