Boot Scootin, these words bring nothing else to mind but country western line dancing and Brooks and Dunn's hit song Boot Scootin Boogie. Line dancing got its start though in the 1970's with The Walkin Waltz, and Cowboy Boogie which where a few of the first notable western line dances which appeared five years before the disco crazy, launched dances like The Electric, later becoming The Electric Slide, The Bus Stop and Nut Bush.
During the 1980's many more line dances came into play like Boot Scootin Boogie, in all about a dozen new dances where formed. In 1992 Billy Ray Cyrus's Achy Breaky Heart really put line dancing on the map and in the hearts of country music listeners everywhere. Bars started appearing that only catered to country music and line dancing, for most it was a great way to burn off steam after a hard day or weeks work and a place to meet people, you didn't even have to be a country music fan to get in the line up and dance. It was great fun and the dances were easy to learn, and no need for a partner, just slip on your boots and get out on the dance floor.
