Over the past few days as I've been working on adding hundreds of Western Belt Buckles. I started to wonder about the origins. I mean certainly Dale Evans didn't wear the Sexy mudflap girl belt buckle while tracking down desperados on the range.

Well I spent a bit of time searching around the web and it turns out these riders of the range never did wear what we would think of as a Cowboy Belt Buckle but simply a friction clamp to hold their cowboy pants up.

So where did this notion of the cowboy wearing his giant Texas Longhorn Belt Buckle come from? Well of course the same place all things such as this come from, Hollywood. Yep the big screen creates it's own reality again.

It's really amazing how much misinformation is planted in our minds by Hollywood. Of course I'm sure there is no mal intent. They are just creating drama. But we take it as reality. Probably harmless in most cases but just remember that they do play a part in shping the information in our minds.

Oh well, Western Belt Buckles are cooll so go find one you like and wear it anyways pardner.
